They did say that “support for video-streaming services is being considered for a future update,” though, which I take to mean it’s happening for sure.Do more with fewer phones! SwitchUp is the 2nd phone number app designed to help you conquer your professional and personal communication using one phone. No Netflix, no Amazon, no Hulu, none of it. The bad news comes from the same interview, in which we learn that the Nintendo Switch is so incredibly dedicated to video games that it will not support any video-streaming services at launch. So, this all sounds pretty great so far–what’s the bad news, then? I love the Miis and the distinctly Nintendo flavor they add to everything, but I’m glad their creation and interaction is no longer required to use my system. More facial components and colors for hair and skin have been added, while the following attributes have been removed: creator’s name, favorites, birthday, copying, and “public.” Mii characters on the Nintendo Switch system are similar to past iterations, but they have some different options. You can send/receive Mii characters through local wireless communication between Nintendo Switch systems, or use an amiibo figure to transfer Mii Characters from Wii U and Nintendo 3DS systems. Mii characters can still be used in games if developers choose to include them. Users also have the option to choose a profile picture from an included library of Nintendo character images. Mii characters can be used to represent a user profile, but are not required. Making Mii characters is similar to the method used on past systems. You can also create a Mii character from the Profile screen. The software to create Mii characters is now located in System Settings, and no longer resides on the HOME menu as a standalone application. We also got a fairly lengthy response about the future of Miis: We learned this from a Kotaku interview with an unnamed Nintendo representative after the Switch presentation that ended up being an awful lot of “We have nothing to announce at this time.” There were a few useful bits though, including the dropped info at the end of a region-locking question where the rep told us we could have up to eight user accounts on one Switch system. For one, you can have multiple accounts on one Nintendo Switch–up to eight to be exact. I say that, but not everything (or even most of everything!) that we’ve learned has been bad. We thought the presentation last week would clear up all these nitty gritty details, but unfortunately we’re getting an awful lot of info about the Switch through a mixed bag of interviews, which makes the bad news feel that much worse. The bad? No Netflix…yet.Īny time this Nintendo Switch business wants to stop being such a gosh darned roller coaster, I’m down. The good news? Multiple accounts and Miis are optional. We’ve got good news and bad news this morning for the Nintendo Switch. By Rebekah Valentine 5 years ago Follow Tweet
